A Massachusetts Injury Law Firm Built on Experience, Trial Strength, and Client Service
Carney, Rezendes & Crowley was created in 2022 when two highly respected Massachusetts injury law firms — Carney Law Firm and The Rezendes Law Group — merged to strengthen their collective workers’ compensation and personal injury litigation capabilities.
With offices in Boston, Braintree, and Lowell, our firm is strategically positioned to represent injured workers across the full geographic footprint of Eastern Massachusetts.
The Rezendes Law Group Legacy: Excellence in Personal Injury & Construction Accident Litigation
Founded by renowned trial lawyer Michael R. Rezendes, The Rezendes Law Group became nationally recognized for its exceptional results in construction injury litigation and serious personal injury cases.
Attorney Cathryn L. Crowley began her career at the firm and has more than 20 years of trial experience, earning a reputation as one of the region’s most respected personal injury litigators.
Attorney Patricia J. Rezendes, who joined in 2009, worked alongside her father until his passing in 2016 and has continued the firm’s tradition of obtaining outstanding verdicts and settlements.
Together, Attorneys Crowley and Rezendes have achieved many notable results, including a $2.5 million jury verdict in 2016, reinforcing their reputation as leaders in Massachusetts personal injury law.
The Carney Law Firm Legacy: Leaders in Massachusetts Workers’ Compensation Law
Carney Law Firm was founded by Attorney Gerard B. Carney and Attorney Brendan G. Carney, focusing on:
Workers’ compensation
Workplace injuries and occupational disease
Sports injury claims
Motor vehicle accidents
Accidental disability retirement (ADR)
Attorney Brendan G. Carney
Brendan is an accomplished Massachusetts workers’ compensation and personal injury attorney with extensive litigation experience, including construction site third-party negligence claims, motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, medical malpractice, and product liability. He has secured numerous six- and seven-figure recoveries for injured clients.
Recently, he obtained one of the largest workers’ compensation settlements in Massachusetts history — a $2.2 million settlement for the surviving spouse of a laborer killed in a trench collapse.
Of-Counsel Attorney Gerard B. Carney
A seasoned trial attorney with more than four decades of experience, Gerard B. Carney has represented injured workers throughout Massachusetts since 1980. He served as partner at several of Boston’s most respected workers’ compensation law firms.
Leadership in the Trial Lawyer Community
Attorney Brendan G. Carney, a past President of the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys (MATA), is among the youngest attorneys ever to serve in that role. His presidency emphasized advocacy for injured workers, consumer protection, and strengthening civil justice rights in Massachusetts.
Attorney Patricia J. Rezendes currently serves as the Treasurer of MATA and is scheduled to become the organization’s President for the 2027–2028 term. Her upcoming presidency reflects her respected status in the trial lawyer community and continues the Rezendes family’s multi-decade leadership within the Massachusetts legal profession.
A Full-Service Injury Firm for Workers’ Compensation & Third-Party Personal Injury Claims
When a worker is injured on the job, they often have two separate cases:
A workers’ compensation claim
A third-party personal injury lawsuit if another person or company contributed to the accident
Our attorneys are recognized leaders in both areas of law, allowing us to:
Coordinate both claims strategically
Maximize total monetary recovery
Simplify the process for clients
Protect workers from insurance company tactics
We also handle a full range of non-work-related personal injury cases throughout Massachusetts.
Representation of Injured Professional Athletes — Including NFL Players
Attorneys Gerard and Brendan Carney are part of a select group approved by the NFL Players Association to represent injured professional football players in workers’ compensation claims, including:
Repetitive trauma injuries
Orthopedic injuries
Concussion and head injury claims
Our firm has assisted hundreds of former NFL players in obtaining cash settlements and lifetime medical benefits, and we are frequently asked to educate professional athletes on Massachusetts workers’ compensation laws.
